On 500 acres in Southern Oregon

Pacifica in the Siskiyous

The Vision

A multi-faceted gem, a multi-useful tool, Pacifica is a non-profit botanic garden, nature center, community center and educational facility all peacefully (pacifically) woven together with education, hands-on learning and sustainable development as primary goals. Located on a total of over 500 acres enfolded in the Siskiyous Mountains of Southwestern Oregon, Pacifica has primary commitments:

  • to education
  • to plants and the environment
  • to music and the arts
  • and the people and communities of Southern Oregon.

Education and hands-on learning come first in Pacifica's mission, program activities and development. To include everything from seminars and training programs to interactive learning on interpretive trails, strong alliances are being forged at every level from elementary school to senior citizens.

Plants and the Environment: Pacifica's second primary commitment covers a wide arena, indeed, but very broadly can be divided into two parts: its 200+ acre Klamath-Siskiyou Nature Center, highlighting a very special area and its 250 acre Botanic Garden, a "living museum" of plants from around the world making learning about plants and the environment enjoyable for people of all age groups and interests is important to us.

Music and Arts: Pacifica's Arts Guild and Applied Arts Center will provide local artists and musicians a place to teach, share knowledge and cooperatively market their work, encouraging a green economy for the area, as well as a love of the arts

Community: Pacifica's Mid-Applegate Community Center (MACC) harbors a spirit of community by being a gathering place for activities and meetings. This economically transitioning region was once dependent upon resource extractions, but through MACC and sustainable development strategies, Pacifica encourages local green economies that strive to preserve a treasured rural lifestyle.
